They Might As Well Be Gay

You've heard that oft-used but ridiculous expression "straight-acting" that gay men use in personal ads and the like? As though it's some kind of compliment that we impose upon ourselves to attract like-minded men? Sounds self-hating, doesn't it? Well, there's a flip-side to this so we'd like to list and honor those straights that in their behavior, their looks, or their overall persona we refer as "gay-acting" and we love them all the more for it. We'd like to consider them "honorary gays"
Marco Dapper--Model and actor (above, right)who went all nude for the gay flick Eating Out 2 and has appeared in gay publications modeling swimsuits and underwear. So handsome, so well-built that you'd swear he MUST be gay. Oh, but no.
Andre Bolourchi--You've seen this up-and-coming model in DNA and whose gay-friendly lifestyle would make you swear he was "one of us". Sure, he's gay-friendly but that's where it all ends. Check him out at his own site.

Marco Dapper Andre Bolourchi
Kathy Griffin--You didn't think we'd keep the great Kathy Griffin off our list, did you? She loves "her gays" and for good reason. She's the equivalent of a gay man living in a straight woman's body. Her humor, her gay lifestyle make her one woman we are proud to include in our club.

Kathy Griffin Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds--From the very first time we saw this actor in films we though that his fey behavior had to be a put-on or bordering on gay stereotyping. But that's just the way he is. When his beefed up ripped body debuted in the third Blade movie he caught the eyes of many gays. And even when he played gay in the recent The Nines it didn't stretch his acting talents.

Dan Futterman Eric McCormack
Dan Futterman--He's played gay in so many roles (Urbania, for example), you would swear he was gay. He even used this gay-acting straight persona when he appeared on Sex in the City. He prefers gay roles and doesn't feel the need to prove his sexuality by mentioning his wife. If only closeted gay actors were as brave.
Eric McCormack--Although Will and Grace has been off the air for a couple years now we still feel the need to salute McCormack for playing Will as a normal but nutty gay man with all the traits and foibles that made him a lovable person. He struggled for years to get the network to allow his character to date. For those efforts alone we
include him.

David Beckham Jonathan Rhys Myers
David Beckham--Those model looks, that metrosexual appeal no matter how many tattoos he gets or how much facial hair he has. He's got the gay appeal and runs with it.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers--Those pretty eyes, that sensuous mouth. If you were to see this Irish actor in person (which we have) you'd swear he looks like the guys you see in gay porn flicks. But no, he's just been blessed with blow-job lips.
Honorable Mention:
Two guys who didn't mind starting those rumors flying about their sexuality and having fun doing it:

Jared Leto--Those pretty looks (above, left) were the object of high school crushes in My So-Called Life (both Claire Danes AND Wilson Cruz) and it's hard not to think he'd be perfect in any gay role. And he's done so many edgy non-gay roles it makes you wonder. He was interviewed and waned to give the intervieweee a scoop--"I'm gay as a goose!" Later admitted it was done in jest, but for a few days, tongues were wagging!
Seann William Scott--
Sexy, straight guy (above, right)who plays horned up doofuses in movies and kissed Aston Kutcher BIG time in Dude Where's My Car? He's a super nice guy in person to boot. He got everyone in a lather when he walked into a gay bar arm in arm with David Geffen. That is until he say it was a all a joke.
Then there are those guys, well... you know how rumors swirl and denials are issued. In many ways it's the 1950s all over again. Whatever, we're not here to judge or label anyone. Like a good friend said when we were pondering the subject out loud one day--"what's it your business?" Anyway, we'd do them in a heartbeat. But we're easy.

Wentworth Miller Hayden Christiansen
Wentworth Miller--So much rumor about the star of Prison Break, but the bottom line is that this very attractive man is also very talented. And talent and good looks are always a trump card.
Hayden Christiansen--Sweet and sensitive actor who got a bad rap for his Star Wars Anakin role but he really gave it his all, didn't he?

James Van Der Beek Ian Somerhalder
James Van Der Beek--There's a reason why Dawson's Creek was a hit and without "Dawson" this show would have never lasted. His rumored off-set shenanigans were the subject of gossip rags, but hell who cares.
Ian Somerhalder--Model and actor who met an untimely demise on Lost. When you think how the ratings plummeted after this, it makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Anderson Cooper Lee Pace
Anderson Cooper--He's come so close to coming out, it's a shame. This handsome and affable TV journalist has been on CNN and 60 Minutes and we're willing to bet that if CBS dumped Katie and put him on, he'd be stellar.
Lee Pace--One of the few to make it on two lists here, Pace won us over with his heartbreaking acting role in Soldier's Girl but his captured our hearts with his sweet Pie Man character Ned in Pushing Daisies.

Johnathon Schaech Brad Pitt Jake Gyllenhaal
Johnathon Schaech--Darkly handsome, muscled, model turned actor has done his share of offbeat gay-fringe roles and had a stint as Christina Applegate's hubby. We had the chance to meet him and fall under the spell of his penetrating eyes.
Brad Pitt--Ok, we know where he stands, but what's with all those homo-erotic magazine layouts, anyway? We can only speculate about his motivations.
Jake Gyllenhaal--Wishful thinking hasn't exactly made things happen and the rumors will probably persist for a long time no matter how much he avows his heterosexuality. But we sure can dream......
