Surviving Reality

Even though the voting results were revealed live on the Sunday finale of Survivor: China, isn't it interesting that Instinct magazine had an article and interview with contestant (and eventual winner) Todd Herzog before the show aired? AND--the cover copy read: Todd Herzog: Million Dollar Man. Coincidence? Or did the cameramen who recorded the votes somehow slip the results to the magazine? Just wondering...

The way the Survivor: China was edited and shown, you could almost tell that the scenario for Todd's win was being told. It doesn't mean that the show wasn't any less suspenseful. It was fascinating to watch how a player managed to carefully control the game, forge alliances and get to the final three with little physical prowess. Besides, the rest of the survivors KNEW he was a player and let him get through thinking that because he had "enemies" on the jury that he'd be a good person the sit next to at the end. So how did he win? We think he swayed enough votes at the final tribal council by being honest about being dishonest.

Some interesting aftermath to the whole deal too. On the CBS Morning Show the day after, the interviewer mentioned and compared Todd Herzog to Richard Hatch, the first Survivor winner who also happened to be gay.
While admitting that he used Hatch's game plan to forge his own, Todd also explained he wanted to do it better. And  Todd distanced himself more from Hatch by referring to the tax cheater as a "dirtbag". Bravo!

Then there's the tale of Denise, the "poor me" lunch lady who didn't make it to the final three and lost to muscle man gravedigger James in the viewer popularity poll (which paid 100K!) On the air she talked about losing her job and getting demoted to janitor so producer Mark Burnett decided to fork over 50K  to her as a sympathy prize. Well, apparently the mullet-headed woman was fibbing. She not only hadn't lost her job, but the custodial position was better paying and came with benefits and she CHOSE it! Plus the school gave her a leave of absence.
Now the only question remains--will she keep the pity money?

Former Survivor contestant JP Calderon was nowhere to be seen on this week's Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, but it was a major hunkfest. There was the prerequisite girl model drama including weight issues, nudity, etc but the real drama came from the straight male models. Bad boy Kehoe & his roomie Grant were questioned on their sexuality---the girls are convinced they're closet cases (we agree)--but Kehoe's big drama came later. And the supposedly straight dudes questioned gay Rodrigo (the secret pornster) on whether he found JP attractive. Incidentally we noticed that Grant's "profile" is gone from the show's website and has been replaced by Dominic (who with JP is a 2xist model). Interesting. Go Softwear underwear company came to Janice to cast some male models for a shot so naturally we got to see men muscle. Our fave here was muscular Brian B and he's another example of questionable straightness (in our eyes).

The underwear shoot at first went badly since Kehoe showed up hung over and when Janice arrived she slapped him silly (such drama!) Plus another chance to see shirtless dudes. But for pure drool-worthy male pulchritude, the next Janice booking was tops. She had a select group do nude modeling for an art class--made up of senior citizens. Interestingly while Brian B had the best bod the running comment was on his lack of "dangle".  Nevertheless we wouldn't ind seeing the unedited footage.  By the way, you may remember Brian B as Brian Bernie who was one of the contestants on Manhunt the Bravo series hosted by Carmen Electra as the male version of America's Next Top Model. There was one difference as one of the contestants was a ringer--a working model. Nowadays Brian appears in men's fitness magazines and has done pretty well for himself. The winner of Manhunt? Surfer dude Jon Jonsson who of course has gone on to fame and fortune--uh-huh.
