Our Top Non-Gay Studs

What would a collection of Top Ten lists be without one that includes straight men we love? Narrowing the list down to only ten was not so easy because there are plenty. So we made it 12--and that wasn't easy either! Some are just eye candy, some are gay friendly or have played gay roles, and others just have a gay sensibility that we'd be proud to include in our club. You'll see a few here that there've been rumors about, but we'll leave the speculation to others and just appreciate these men for who they are. And as before we list them in no particular order.

                        Jason Statham                                                                                Eric Mabius

Jason Statham--Whether he's playing action hero (Transporter) or bad guy, this sexy UK actor and former athlete (he was a  diver!) practically oozes masculinity. We've heard he's also a super-sweet guy in real life and very classy to boot. If there's one straight guy we could imagine in leather it's Jason.

Eric Mabius--We've been in love with him ever since Welcome to the Dollhouse and watched him take on a wide variety of roles (including his gay turn in Cruel Intentions) and movies before landing his role as resident heartthrob on Ugly Betty. He too gets extra credit for HIS participation in the GLAASD PSAs.

John Cena -- Pro wrestler with the perfect body, Cena started out as the All-American hero type is now more the rough & tumble hero type. Superbly muscled, we know he's been dogged by 'roid rumors, but we simply can't help but drool over him. AND......he's turned his wrestling fame into possible movie gold in The Marine.

Chris Evans--He's so beautiful to look at that you might not realize he's a good actor too. This luscious-lipped stud was reason enough to see the Fantastic Four movies, but this versatile actor (Sunshine, Nanny Diaries)with the killer bod is the highlight of every movie he's made. PS--he has a look-alike brother that's gay.

Mario Lopez
--He's been showing off his muscled body ever since he was a teen on Saved By The Bell. His "body" of work includes a often-watched bare-assed shower scene on Nip/Tuck and a dynamically sexy series of performances on Dancing With the Stars (he was cheated on that!) And we applaud him for playing gay athlete Greg Louganis (Breaking the Surface). For that alone he gets our vote.

Hugh Jackman--This Aussie stud burst onto the scene playing Wolverine in the X-Men movies, but sincethen he has demonstrated remarkable versatility in musical theatre roles (he played gay performer Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz), romantic leads, and seemingly can do it all.

Neil Haskell--He won our respect with his phenomenal dancing skills on So You Think You Can Dance? but his looks, his bubble but, and his charm won over our hearts. If there was one amateur competitor we'd love to see more of it's Neil.

Cameron Mathison--Surprise! After all our rants and raves over Cameron on Dancing With The Stars, how could we leave him off. Great dancer, hot bod, brilliant smile. Known for losing his shirt--how could you NOT love him? Aside from his soap work he's done lots of TV guest shots and had a bit part in 54.  He's convinced us to watch soap operas again.

Jamie Bamber--We're a little biased but we think this sexy man is one of the main reasons for the success of Battlestar Galactica--at least we know he's responsible for the gay following!  Another Brit he's also done his part for his gay fans by participating in the GLAAD PSA ads (a special oneaired after the Battlestar movie Razor--you gotta love that!

James Marsden--Another handsome actor who is as comfortable playing gay roles (24th DayThe Heightsas he is playing romantic straight leads. And he has been known to do the unthinkable---playing a perfect man who loses the girl to someone else. He sings (Hairspray) and lights up the screen whenever he appears.

Jake Gyllenhaal--What more can be said about Jake that hasn't already BEEN said. He fate was sealed as a gay icon when he broke our hearts in Brokeback Mountain. He's always been a draw for indie film lovers (Donnie Darko, The Good Girl) and when you check out his filmography you'll see he's worked with the best. Plus, he has embraced his gay following with grace and appreciation.

Milo Ventimiglia--He's been acting in movies and TV ever since he was a teenager but it wasn't until his role as the sweetly sexy and power-packed Peter Petrelli in NBC's Heroes that people really took notice. He's played Rocky's son in Rocky Balboa, and did a short-lived TV series Opposite Sex with fellow hottie Chris Evans. And he's also done his turn in gay-themed films (Speedway Junky and Boys Life 2) so he truly gets his nod from us.

Some names that got honorable mention include Seann William Scott (we are waiting breathlessly for his much delayed film Southland Tales) and Brandon Routh (the sequel to Superman Returns better not be delayed)) but if we included any more names this blog might never end.

As always we welcome your comments and suggestions as we unveil more lists. We MAY keep each list down to ten, but don't count on it.
