OUR Men of the Year

For starters, let's take a look at the Cable Guys. No, we're not talking about those dudes that come in and install your cable TV, but rather those guys that host or are featured in those many and varied shows you find on your cable and satellite stations. These guys give us do-it-yourself tips, design ideas, cooking instructions, AND we love them.

Steve Hanneman Eric Stromer
Carter Oosterhouse (Carter Can)-- With his super-model looks, West Hollywood resident Carter could host ANY show and not have to lift a finger to get an audience. But he does much more than that here. He helps out folks who need help with their home renovations when they think they can't afford, don't have the time, or the skill to pull off. Carter uses his carpentry and construction background to help these people out with an emphasis on green technology and always with great results. Carter is also using his fame to start a new show for DIY and a charitable foundation for kids. PLUS, he's an outdoorsman & avid sailor and is the face of Nautica's Voyage cologne for men. And yes, he's straight but we won't hold that against him AT ALL.
Steve Hanneman (Hammer Heads)-- You've seen this charismatic hunk on HGTV's Designed to Sell but he's now the host of this show where he and his team do big remodeling jobs for hapless homeowners --all in one weekend.
Hanneman has an impressively manly resume too. He was an American Gladiator (Maverick), Hollywood stunt man, title-holding light heavyweight while in college, and is now as NASCAR driver as well as member of a weekend football league. Another straight stud.
Eric Stromer (Over Your Head)-- Blond, blue-eyed mega-hunk, one of People's sexiest men was a drama student who turned to construction in Colorado and now his own LA company. He's appeared on TLC's Clean Sweep as well as guested on several shows and still does singing and songwriting. His show helps homeowners whose renovations went wrong and helps them repair the damage. What a smile! Oh yeah, and straight.
Brice Cooper (Design on a Dime)-- With his Clark Kent looks, this Chicago designer is also an artist with a background in handcrafts. Started the unique design company Brainchild Designs. He also restores motorcycles and has landed a gig on Speed Channel's On the Edge.
Curtis Stone (Take Home Chef) Another Aussie this blond master chef and author has an international reputation and although he lives in London, is now single and based in LA. His goal is to show his viewers how to make elegant gourmet food as simply and easily as possible. Super sweet and super yummy! Gay? Straight? Who knows. But he can cook for us anytime!

David Bromstad (Color Splash)-- Muscular, tattooed, exotically handsome winner of the first HGTV Design Star competition, Bromstad is an artist whose incorporation of color into his home makeovers makes him unique. Oh yeah, and he's openly gay--HOORAY! This sexy Minnesota native moved to Florida to pursue his dream as Disney animator (of course!) before opening his own business and winning the HGTV competition.
Marsh Mokhtari (I Want That Baths!) British born, former medical student, pro-athlete, actor and producer whose appeared on daytime soaps and nighttime dramas, he co-hosts this very basic guide to bath designs. Handsome and very classy we love his truly metrosexual appeal.

Marsh Mokhtari Bear Grylls
Bear Grylls (Man vs Wild)--With his Christian Bale looks and UK Special Forces background, Grylls hosts this show where he is dropped into hostile environments and forced to survive for several days on his own with only meager possessions. The dirtier he gets, the sexier he looks--especially when he has to strip off his clothes. Oh yes, and he has to do all sorts of stuff to survive. Sure, some of the stuff has been exaggerated and there were some cheats revealed, but we still love to watch this straight stud get down and dirty.
Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs)--He's no newcomer to TV having appeared on QVC and several other cable shows (many on Discovery), but in this show hunky and witty Rowe really gets his hands dirty. He shows his viewers the world's filthiest jobs and proves how disgusting they are by taking them on himself. We're surprised he survives but we'd gladly let him use our shower to clean up in.
Hunter Ellis (Digging For the Truth)--This former Air Force pilot was a strong player on Survivor Marquesas, but
also one of the first victims of reality slimeball Rob Mariano. Now the host of this show which features various explorations of historical icons and mysteries. This show was originally hosted by the beautifully handsome Josh Bernstein, who would have made this list BIG time.

Honorable mention:
Kyan Douglas (Queer Eye)-The show may be over, but we still need to see more of him.
Jamie & Bobby Deen (Road Tasted)--Paula Deen's sons are big, handsome & lovable

I love it when Bear Grylls drnks his own pee. That's soooo hot.

We didn't include it on the blog, but there's a great video satire of Bear Grylls being dropped into the heart of...West Hollywood!
