How easy is it to make it as a sex symbol in male erotica?  You'd think that being openly gay, having a hot body, doing lots of films for amateur sites and major studios, and having a big following would be enough. Not so for Mason Wyler, whose frustrating saga of trying to start his own site has played out on his own MySpace page and in the gay media.

 As we've mentioned before Mason Wyler, the newest addition to our Jack Manly Men page, announced he was starting his own website which would be about his travels, his interests, etc. And he was seeking out guys to have sex with (anonymously)on camera for his site. He even listed his travel dates for willing participants. When the gay press got a hold of this announcement and he was besieged with requests, Wyler had to qualify his statement. He had to make it clear (although he shouldn't have had to) that he was looking for HOT guys that he was attracted to--not just anyone willing to have sex with him. That was the first hurdle.

 The second hurdle came on the first leg of Mason Wyler's trip and it may have been a deal breaker. We'll see if it killed his whole venture. As you can read here on his MySpace blog, Mason had a run in with Canadian immigration authorities and he was pretty angry about it.  Let's just say it doesn't look like Mason will be doing any promotions for the Canadian Visitors Bureau any time soon. The poor guy didn't even make it into the country!

 The next hurdle came in Chicago and we're stilling waiting word as to whether Mason salvaged his vacation, let alone his website idea.

 Contrast this saga with that of Men Magazine Man of the Year Johnny Castle (another Jack Manly Man, by the way).  He got this honor in spite of being straight and never having done or having any plans to do a sex scene with another male. He has also announced plans for his own website, but it looks like its going to happen with a few less hitches than that of Mason Wyler's.

 

   Then again, we know (from putting up our site at JackManly) that there is NO easy-to-obtain success rate when it comes to starting a website. There's one superstar in particular that has had to put a major amount of work and effort into his own site.  And he is probably one of the hottest and nicest men we've ever met. Go figure. But we're happy to see him get more recognition very soon. We're talking about Vin Marco, the star and co-founder of ManifestMen. He's going to be the cover and centerfold of the January 2008 issue of Playgirl. Congratulations!
