Henry VIII Reborn

In spite of recent cinematic attempts to rehabilitate and glamourize the reputation of gout-ridden, syphilitic, misogynistically murderous monarch Henry VIII, it seems the legacy of old King Hal lives--at least with Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Sexy Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who plays the young king as a hunky adonis on the Showtime series The Tudors admitted himself to California rehab back in April and just a few days ago was arrested at the Dublin airport, charged with "public drunkenness and breach of the peace". So is the dashing young star going the way of many in the movie and entertainment biz? Or--is Rhys Meyers getting into method acting and channeling Henry VIII to the extent that he's enulating the dead king's behavior? If so, let's hope he doesn't ascend to a throne any time soon and starting picking off his queens.

Perhaps Eric Bana will save the day playing the dead king in the upcoming film The Other Boleyn Girl. It'sthe story of Anne & Mary Boleyn both vying for the attentions of the lusty king. Ironically, Scarlet Johansson , Rhys Myser's co-star in Matchpoint,  plays the title role of Mary opposite Natalie Portman as Annepcoming film a story about Anne & Mary. We're sure that Eric Bana's ample pecs, which featured prominently in Hulk and Troy will reappear in this new take on the Tudor king. And that's not the only part of Bana's anatomy that caused a stir on the set.

We've read that Ms Johansson was "distracted" by Eric Bana because of the protruding codpiece he wore during the course of filming. Apparently it was not an unpleasant distractforthe actress either and Eric Bana relished it.
in Contact Music sheexplained it as follows:

"Everyone would be ready for the scene and I could not for the life of me look away from Eric's bulge. I was so enthralled over it. Eric took total advantage of it; he even used it as a tool. He would either rest his hands or a cup of coffee on it. And as a joke people would even lead him around the set by it."

Hmmm. Could this be the reason women were throwing themselves at the feet of Henry VIII andrisking their pretty necks?

We'll see for ourselves when the movie is released in February
