Gay Watch: The Halloween Edition
If the sight of Reichen (reality show winner, author, and ex of Lance Bass ) in awful drag doesn't scare you, maybe the thought of Jake Gyllenhaal & Reese Witherspoon morphing into "Gyllenspoon" will. Perhaps the site of Brody Jenner dressed as a Robin (in need of a codpiece) and fitness model Brian Wade dressed as a shirtless barbarian on "Big Bang Theory" will ease the pain.
Yes, that's a picture (above, left) of Reichen Lehmkuhl to the right of boyfriend Ryan Barry in drag at a recent party proving that handsome men do not make pretty women. Reichen, who first gained fame as a openly gay co-winner CBS' Amazing Race several seasons ago with then-husband Chip, has been busy since then becoming something of a gay celebrity. After "Race", he was a contestant on several reality shows, dabbled in modelling, became an actor and author,
and enjoyed celebrity status when former boy band member Lance Bass came out and named Reichen as his boyfriend.
After the Reichen-Lance romance ended, Reichen became involved with model Ryan Barry and has since joined the cast of the here supernatural series Dante's Cove. Reichen also has his own website http://www.reichen.us where he also sells a line of titanium jewelry "Fly Naked with Reichen" . A portion of proceeds go to Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) to end the ban on openly gay service members in the military. This is not a new "cause" for Reichen as he served in the Air Force and has been working for it for years now. By theway, he is also sponsoring a "celebrity cruise in Fenruary. Brokeback Mountain is in the news again directly and indirectly. There are reports that a sequel is in the works with Heath Ledger reprising his role as Ennis in a "coming out" story. Entertainment Weekly also featured a recent article on gay films in post-Brokeback Hollywood where it looks like the wave of new gay films and characters hasn't exactly transpired.
Then there's the Jake Gyllenhaal & Reese Witherspoon romance (or is it showmance?) that has blossomed in the press following their film together. All of a sudden sightings of Jake spotted with male friends has vanished from the news. We're just mentioning.
Brody Jenner, the son of Olympic superstar Bruce Jenner and actress Linda Thompson, has been a model and reality TV star (Fox's Princes of Malibu and MTV's The Hills), and linked with several actresses including Nicole Richie. Then there's that 10-year "friendship" with Spencer Pratt (he also served as Brody's manager, publicist, stylist (?) and agent) that ended this year over both hunks' girlfriend troubles. With all this publicity and status as pseudo-celebrity you'd think that this good-looking stud could afford a better costume than the ill-fitting Robin costume (above, right) he wore with bud Frankie Delgado as Batman. Upon closer examination we're wondering whether these crappy costumes weren't designed to show off their assets:

When it comes to eye-candy for Halloween, fitness model/actor Brian Patrick Wade's appearance on holiday episode of Big Bang Theory would be our pick of the week. The 6'3" muscular stud (who plays ditzy blonde character Penny's ex)
re-appeared in barbarian/Tarzan outfit. No screencaps available but here's a pic (below) from his DVD from IconMen (www.iconmen.com) , the gay-friendly website/company that features beautiful men in galleries, bios, and fitness tips, calendars and a dazzling array of "how-to" fitness videos. Oh yes and the equally gay-friendly studs like Rusty Joiner, Christian Boeving, and Greg Plitt can also be found here.
Incidentally, Big Bang Theory is also a pretty good show on its own. It features a group of intellectual but geeky grad students trying to fir in. It stars the sexually ambiguous Johnny Galecki, who played the cute and nerdy David on Roseanne and who went nude on Broadway. In fact, a couple of Roseanne alums have guested on this show--Laurie Metcalf (Jackie)as a character's mom and openly gay actress Sara Gilbert as a possible recurring love interest for Galecki's character.
Speaking of Roseanne, cable station Oxygen will be featuring a mini-marathon of the series classic Halloween episodes on --you guessed in Halloween day.
