Last One Standing might just leave YOU ‘standing’!

One of the best shows of the new TV season can be found off the networks, on the Discovery Channel.  LAST ONE STANDING is an international testosterone filled adventure show featuring some of the hottest guys that ever will pop up on your TV screen (without the need for a DVD player…).  The reality cast is made up of 6 stunning athletes – from the UK – Mark Hoban, a kickboxer; Richard Massey, a rugby player; and Rajko Radovic, a fitness guru, and from the U.S. – Brad Johnson, a strong man; Corey Rennell, an outdoorsman; and Jason Bennett, a BMX champion. 

Each episode takes the 6 athletes to one of various native cultures around the world, embeds them into their tribes and turns them into tribal warriors.  The videography is as beautiful as anything you might expect from the Discovery Channel and it is a must see if you want to test out the vividness of that new HDTV.  Heck, it’s reason enough to go out and buy one!

Episode 1 takes the men to the Kalapalo village in a remote area of Brazil where a form of wrestling has taken the place of war between tribes (...and some people say they are “uncivilized”…).  The men undergo brutal training that test their limits and ultimately eliminates three of the guys who just aren’t up to tribal standards.  The remaining men must face the ceremonial warfare, but not before they are initiated as true warriors – a ritual that involves piranha teeth and that will leave you not knowing whether to be turned on or to faint (or both!) as you see the men’s blood running down their sweaty bulging muscular arms and legs. The male tribe members are boldly naked, but our athletes modestly strip down to swim trunks.  (Bulge alert! – watch as British rugby player Richard takes his torturous ritual turn and the camera focuses on his thigh and bulging speedo-ed crotch…).  For those of you who enjoy tribal tats, you’ll see all 6 of the chiseled bodies painted in a way that would make anyone’s head turn.

Episode 2 will see the men in Zulu country engaging in “Stick fighting”.  Can’t wait!
